Here is my situation.. l worked at company X for 3 years -- in 2007, my earnings were $45,000/year... In 2008, l got 2 raises to $60,000/year (the last raise was in June 2008).
The unemployment office in NJ asked me to fax my w'2 is from 2007 an 3 pay stubs.. but my company never gave me pay stubs cuz l ha direct deposit... does this mean my benefits will be calculated just based on my 2007 w'2 reported earnings and not my LATEST earnings???

If you know where l can get more details on this, l would appreciatre it.

Neither. It depends on your income over a period of time, probably the last 6 months not counting the current quarter. Was your company withholding taxes from your pay, or treating you as an independent contractor and not withholding anything? A contractor does not qualify for unemployment comp. An employee normally gets pay stubs even if their pay is direct deposited.

First, ur employer is required by law to give u a break down of ur pay. You should be getting statements that show Gross, Withholding, Net & YTD figures for them all. Contact payroll & ask them to send u an earnings statement for each of the last 3 pay periods.

Your benefits r figured on a ''weighted average'' which in real words means they take all ur reported wages & average them out. Most states go back 15 months (5 quarters) to figure u average.

Unbelievable that with the size (and cost) of New Jersey is state government that they still r doing things this manually.

In Michigan my employees have never had to provide anything more than the unemployment application to get their money.

Start with payroll at ur company, they should (and legally have to) provide this info. Are u sure u did not get statements before/after each deposit? If u did, those r ur ''paystubs''.
