From my experiences, no. Many internship programs start off with a period of training and then comes the actual work from the internship. By starting late, you would have missed out on the important information they began with, and would be behind. My advice: find a regular job (full or part-time) that is similar to what you wanted for an internship. The experience is what counts, not what the position is called. Good Luck!

l did two internships in NY, each for only 6 weeks. One was in film making production & the other was for a nonprofit.

You can likely find many companies who need interns for shorter periods of time. It will just take some research. More structured firms may have a lengthy & competitive interview process & require an entire summer from u for credit, but the way to avoid that is to look for advertising/PR firms that r not as large but can offer just as much experience. My internship experience was invaluable - & both companies were very small. l got my hands in a lot more projects that way. l do not think l suffered at all by not working summer long internships at huge, well-known companies. Instead, l got two internships at the ''price'' of one & built up my resume tremendously. l highly recommend it.

l would recommend researching ur favorite creative firms & sending ur resume & cover letter to the hiring managers directly. Let them know UP FRONT that u r seeking an internship for the 2nd half of the summer.
