Okay, so our landlord does not know how to do anything!!And he is old, if that helps.Anyway, he never leveled the land before this trailer was put here, he does the piping himself, and no, he is not qualified, so everything leaks.We used to have cockroaches, we are getting ants (but that can happen anywhere).He does not even know if the washer hook-up is properly installed because, his exact words, ''l did not think anyone would ever use the washer hook-up.''

And, our old fridge broke, but was not ours because the landlord never sold it to us.We had it for five or so years, already extremely old, and it broke.So, we told him, and he went out, bought a new one, and is now complaining to us that we are causing all of these problems!!But they were here way before we came along!l know, because my Dad stayed here for a year before we came.He never said anything because he was only here for a day or two, then he went back to work (truck driver).

Oh, and he also does not mow the lawn.l mean, he does, but there are still *huge* patches of long grass everywhere!!

So, my question is, is what he does, like not calling people to fix things, legal?I am positive it is, but still, l think there should be someone we can call that can straighten him up...

And we can not move.That is why we rent, we can not afford to.We've tried on several different occassions.
l do not know what the lease said, my dad signed it.And, my Dad claims that it is all his responsibility.And the landlord says the same, but he is doing such a poor job at it.l mean, this trailer can be labeled as condemed any second now!

Also, there is a lot of mold.And you should have seen the things my mother had to pick up!!She had to clean after the previous tenants moved out.Horrible job for $250 a month.
Okay, no, see, my mom, brother, and l moved in a year after my Dad did.My DAD signed a contract, and only one.That was the year my DAD moved in.We do not have a copy of the contract, so we can not look over it.And the landlord said it was perfectly okay for us to live here.NO ONE said anything about kicking anyone out.
Hmmm...l should!First, just to make sure we actually do not have a copy, I will look for one.Then I will ask for a copy.

Also, my landlord seems like the kinda guy who would not even have a lease.Is that possible?

first off u rent the house u mow the lawn... and its his house he can fix things if he wants u dont like it move.. l have 19 rent houses

umm..its perfectly legal of him to do that..if you are just RENTING. If you buy the house, then you have/maybe call a lawyer. It should provide water electricty and air stuff.

OK, the things you can complain about- washer hook up and leaky pipes.
Things l am not sure you can- pests.
Things you definitely can not complain about- he bought you a fridge (did not have to), poor lawn job.
Basically this all comes down to your lease that you signed. It should have stated what is your responsibility and what is his.

ok.so when u moved in there should have been a contract signed by both u & him. l know l rent out about 30 houses a month. People do not really have a right if they did not sign a contract. Which in the long run is not going to be a good thing for u because he sould kick u out & u could do nothing about it. If u did sign a contract u need to look over it. Find out exactly what u agreed to. Although no one here can tell u what ur rights r because we have not seen the contract. l hope that l could help. Email me if u have a question.



Ok well what u r going to need to do is ask ur landlord for a copy of the lease for ur reference. He should give u one. If the contract says that he should be fixing these things then he has got to. If u feel very strongly about it u should take him to court. People do it all the time. My mother is a lawyer & these kinds of things r serious & can be settled

It is possible you have no lease, but you and the landlord are still protected by law.

He has to give you 30 days to move out, he can not just kick you out.

But, for the rest of your rant, no there is no law forbidding a property owner to do work on their own property. He can not build another floor or anything like that, but he can maintain it himself, he does not need to hire anyone.

ok l do not know where the rest of these people answering live but where l live you go by the lease or rental agreement. if it says he mows then he mows. Not at anytime is the person renting a place supposed to fix the plumbing or electrical. it is the responsibility of the landlord to fix these things. It is called a slum lord to expect someone to live in those conditions without repair. call legal aid where you live and ask them to help you.
