l have a phone interview with Barclays. l would appreciate any information but more specifically, l need to know what questions they ask during the phone interview. How long does it last? Is there a math test as well?

They ask you maths questions and they ask you in for interview if you pass.

It can last from 1/2 - 1 hour; they will check with u at the start to make sure you're okay to talk for that long, so if it is not a good time u can just let them know & they will arrange a call back.

Initially they will ask about ur career history, going over ur previous jobs & asking the key skills u have gained from these. They will also ask u to describe scenarios where u did a number of things: worked well in a team, received positive feedback for ur work, encountered a difficult situation & overcame it, made a mistake & how u corrected this/what happened as a result.

Also expect a few questions such as; describe yourself in 3 words, or describe how ur work colleagues would describe u if asked to do so. Oh, & they have to ask if u have a criminal conviction, & possibly about ur credit history, though l am not sure if that is in the telephone interview stage or not.

Even though the previous answer said there is a maths test, l do not think there is. I've undergone a Barclays interview myself & did not have a maths test. Also, l currently work behind the telephone interviewers & have never heard them asking candidates maths questions.

l can not remember any more specifics, but l can tell u that they r genuinely lovely people & u do not need to feel nervous. If u can not hear them, or do not understand the question, just ask them to clarify for you. :)

Oh, also, just a general tip - try to treat the interview like a casual chat; they do ask u questions, but if u can project a friendly attitude they will see that u have good interpersonal skills & that goes a lot further than merely giving the textbook .
