l have recently found a fairly ornate piece of paper that says it is ''100 shares'' in ''The great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company''.It looks legit to me.It has about a dozen stamps on it from various banks and signatures from people.Plus some kind of punch out pattern from an old computer.

This was found at my mother-in-laws home.She says it belong to her late husband.l do not see her or his name on it anywhere, but all of the signatures are completely illegible.

Here is are the questions:
What the heck do l do with this thing?
Can l sell it?
Who would l take it to?

l doubt that a computer was used to read data from the certificate. Hold it up to the light. Do the holes spell something, like ''CANCELED''? In the days when paper certificates were common, somebody would sell stock by signing the back & sending it to the company is transfer agent. The agent would issue a new certificate in the buyer is name & cancel the old certificate by punching it. This sounds like a cool souvenir.

If u want to make really sure, contact A&P is transfer agent & registrar (phone number on link) & give them the certificate number. They can tell u if it is still a valid certificate of not. If it is valid, u can take it to a broker & sell it.
