l pay my bill on time every month at first my credit line was 700 then they increased it to 1200 but l just called today for an extra 1000 but the lady said because of my income thats the most they can offer me but when they did increase it to 1200 l never asked it cause l was paying my bill on time but l thought because l was still paying everything on time they would increase more. is there another bank or credit card l can get with low APR and no annual fee and that helps build my credit.
and what makes it so bad was when l got the credit card l did not even have a just period for like 8 months. to think l have one now they would increase it or should l go to the bank in person and try again.

You are doing the right thing, paying always on time!
so why not work with the bank - try to have your credit increase slowly. In a few months, ask again and perhaps you will get 1,500.

Right now banks have tightened up considerably, due to the financial mess they have created by being more than liberal with credit.
Another way is to take a second job, which then allows you to show more income.

You need to increase your income. They rate your income and your ability and willingness to pay. Do not think things are free just because you can sign for them. There is always the bill at the end of the month.

You can always save money for purchases. Pay cash and you will n ot incur interest charges or any penalties.

In today is tight unsecured credit market, the rules r changing. Banks got burned on bad mortgages, they do not want to get burned on bad credit card debts. They can & do increase credit limits without asking if they think u r a good credit risk. It entices card holders to spend more that they should so the banks can make more money on interest.

Visit web sites to see what banks r offering for ur situation. Good credit is not based upon the credit card(s) u hold, but ur real-time debt to income ratio. l do not have any credit cards myself. l am not rich. But l do have a savings account that l can tap into for emergencies. Potential debt from a credit card (with a high limit) can do more harm than good depending upon ur income.

There r many frightened banks around today & one lending criteria is the amount of income a person has. The idiots did not do their homework when they were issuing sub prime rates to people who could not afford the places they were buying unless the interest rate was lower than low. You pay ur bills, have gone from $ 700 to $ 1,200 credit line which u want to increase to $ 2,200 & r probably at the limit with ur income regardless of the on time payments. So live with the $ 1,200. & find another source of income like a second job which equals more income which means a better credit risk.

If ur only paying the minimum each month & want a credit increase then l would not give u a larger credit line either. The logic is if u can only pay the minimum u might be getting in over ur head. Yes ur limits r pretty low but the banks r strict now. l have an 823 rating & a stack of cards with 20,000 to 31,000 limits. Just paying every month is not enough, pay extra. The other thing u can do is ask ur cell phone company, electric, gas, rent & what ever other bills u might have to report ur good payment history on ur report. If ur going to try for another credit card fill out requests for 6 cards the same day. When u apply it makes an ''inquiry'' & they lower ur rating, if they all look the same couple of days ur more likely to get a card. As far as low rates.. u need good credit for a period of years to get those. l get balance transfer checks for 3.99% til the balance is paid off at least once a week from one of my cards.
