Looking at the recent news about home loan problems foreclosures etc (in USA) l have a question. Are there any affordable housing projects there?

I am from India and we've a lot of options if we wanna buy a house. We have a lot of construction projects which are for multi-story building with apartments in them and an individuals can buy the units, they are much more affordable than seperate homes or townhomes. (The only drawback is shared yard of course.)

The reason in India is of course space constraint and varied income groups. but its always better to own a tiny home instead of speding money on rent. :)

So again, just out of curiosity, l wanna ask if there any affordable housing projects in USA?
Looks like my Q is misunderstood :) i'm NOT looking for a house :)
And not looking for shelters as well.

What l want say is, the lowest price one can buy a house for ( about a 100,000? ), is still too high for many people and they have no option other than renting.

Sure, you can purchase a condominium usually for much less than a single-family home but you will have to pay association dues, usually monthly.

There is Habitat for Humanity. They did help out a lot of people after Katrina and other natural disasters.

l am not sure how much they do on a day to day basis in the US as they are an International body.

my mom is a real estate agent and she can use this website that she can look up your particular needs. for example if you need a 3 bedroom house with 2 bathrooms. she can look up those things coordinating it with your price range. if your interested in buying a house.. my suggestion is to get an agent because they will get you exactly what you need in 1/2 the time. although it may be a little more money, its worth it in the end. happy hunting!

The short answer to ur question is ''Yes''

In truth, there r multiple types of ''Affordable Housing'' solutions made available here in the US that will cover everything from the ''Section 8'' housing for the poor to ''Moderate Income'' housing as mandated by States & Municipalities. Beyond that there r also charities such as Habitat for Humanity.

The resources & possibilities r endless.

Yes, the US has similar housing. Our standard of living is much higher, we would not tolerate, even for our very poorest, some of the conditions of India.
