l used to work as an Oracle DBA (IT) in the private sector. 8 months ago l had a baby and decided to work for the government. Now my baby is going to daycare. My pay is now much lower than l used to make and there little to do at work and no motivation. Now my husband sent my resume to his company HR and they wanna interview me. Somehow l enjoy the carefreeatmosphere at my job butit does not pay much and l miss the fast paced environment. Any advice from young working mothers will help. Should l take the offer if given to me? Or should l stay put as l wanna have another child in the future. l can always go back to government.

Oracle DBA is r still hard to find & u can write ur own ticket. Do not go to ur husband is company because you're putting too many eggs in one basket. If the company starts layoffs, you're both at risk. Diversify! Through the economic slowdown, Oracle will be less affected & they sell business with long term contracts attached so you're in a good position. Go contract & start building a career that direction. You will get the freedom to work when & how u want. You will make more money than other jobs. (Expect at least 20% more over ur highest paying perm job to be a contractor). Take advantage of additional write offs since you're independent - write off part of the car, house (for an office) & utilities, gas, tollway tags, oil changes, car washes, clothing & a lot more. Even some lunches or dinners ''entertaining'' potential future clients. Are not u glad you're not a Visual Basic programmer?!
