My girlfriend is relatives are trying to relocate her grandmother to the USA. Currently she has Canadian citizenship. The grandmother is 76 years old and has several health conditions. Can anyone recommend a health insurance company and tell me what would be the approximate monthly cost?

Most insurance companies will not touch anyone over age 65. That is why they started medicare here. Socialized medicine but they do not call it that. l could not bring my mother with me when l moved to California from Canada in 2001 because insurance was essentially impossible to get for less than over $2,000 a month. As older people have more health issues & can run up huge bills, insurers want nothing to do with them & even more so if they have health issues.

No health insurance company is going to give her health insurance, here in the USA.

Period. She will be out of pocket, until she is been here long enough to qualify for Medicare - welfare health insurance, IF she can qualify for Medicare.

You will get offers for discount programs - but they wo not pay any bills.

Your friend would be better to leave her grandmother right over there in Canada, to which she has a decent insurance, unless ur friend is financially abled & want to pay CASH, Out-of-the-pocket for all her Medical, which would run her into the poor house, immediately. Maybe ur friend is family should just go live with her in Canada, if they allow it; so they can become Citizens & have that priviledge, later on; providing Canada allows their Citizenship. One needs to think, really hard, about this sort of thing, cause our Insurances over here in the U.S. really SUCKS.
