l just won an item on ebay, and paid for it straight away via paypal, as l always do.

However, I've just received a message from the seller requesting that l pay by P/O or Cheque. I am happy to do that, but I'd like a refund first. Is there a way to request one?

Also, l think their message was sent as l was paying so l do not think they're attempting to get a double payment. l understand that ebay requires paypal to be offered.
Well, I've emailed to say that I'd already done it, just waiting for a reply. The money has definately gone though. They have positive feedback for previous sales.

Just ask them either not to accept your PP payment (It will be returned to you and wo not cost them) or if they already have, they can refund you, but it will probably cost them.

Go into PayPal and check if the money was taken from your account; if this is the case, contact the seller and tell them you have already paid by PayPal. Surely PayPal was an option, which is why you were able to pay by it in the first place? Let the seller know they have already been paid? Do not hand over any other money until you have received your refund!

e mail them and say that you`ve already paid via paypal and would like the money to be refunded into your account before you will send out a cheque,if you get no reply contact paypal and they will refund you,

Do they offer payment by Paypal on the listing? If so then they have to accept your Paypal payment. Thems the rules ;)

If not, the seller can easily refund you via Paypal, presuming they actually have a Paypal account. Email the seller and explain your situation and any good seller should be happy to help.

since you've already emailed them, you can either wait for a reply, or try to find a phone number for them, they might have sent one in the email they sent, the invoice?

but just wait and see what happens, or go into paypal and see if you can cancel the transaction?

If u r both happy with cheque or PO, the seller can use the refund button from their PayPal account - that way, u get all of ur money back & they get their PayPal fee refunded.

Do be aware that if anything goes wrong with the transaction, though, u will be out on ur own.

If the item does not arrive, or is not as described & you've paid with PayPal, u can start a dispute through them to get ur money back (as u most likely already know).

If you've paid by any other means, all u can rely on is eBay is mediation....which basically means that u & the seller thrash things out between u (so you'd be lucky to see ur money ever again).
