it should not affect your credit score (except there may be an inquiry for opening a new checking account).

but be careful - a lot of those deals have minimum balance requirements and a minimum time that the account must be open to get the bonus. if you violate those minimums, there will be fees.

plus, you will owe interest on the bonus, as it will typically be credited on a 1099-INT form, submitted to the IRS.

Um l think with a deal like that you have to keep the account opened for at least 4 months or something like that depending on what their terms are. If you're serious about getting an account then do it but if you are just doing it for the money that is wrong.

Rip up that check. you do not need a Chase account and you can not keep that money and just cancel the account afterwards.

l would not do it, you'd better read the fine print. Chase is hurting for money now (part of J P Morgan) they were in my husbands work place last week trying to get everyone to sign up for direct deposit, etc. then they turn around and encourage the parent company to sell off the business, thus causing 1000 is to lose there jobs. l would not support a company that does that -- would you??

Read the fine print. They are not going to just give you the 100 bucks or else everyone would be doing it and they'd be out of business. There is probably a clause saying you have to deposit so much or keep the account open for so many months. It is not worth it. Destroy all evidence of this seemingly great ''deal''.

l personally just got one & signed up understanding all disclosures ect. The back of that coupon/check will have a minimum opening deposit (100$ generally) & a minumum to keep it open for 6months.now with this account u must either use ur debit card 5+ times a month or have direct deposit going into it.basically they want u to open an account u will use not one to just sit there. Chase is a great bank & is doing well in this financially unstable world of today. open a new account give it a try & see if u do not make the switch. A bank that is open seven days a week, great customer service, & banks/atms everywhere.why not give it a try>!
