It would be in your contract whether they would or not. It depends on who the landlord is also. Anyone can run a background check at any time on anyone, but if you did not do anything then you should not be worried. ;)

Absolutely, and it costs them money, too. You do not want any criminals as new neighbors do you? They're protecting themselves and their property and their tenants. Not illegal to discriminate against convicted criminals. And not all convictions are necessarily a bar to renting, although all felonies probably are.

Not only is it legal , the landlord may be legally liable if he does not . If there is a version of ''Megan is Law'' in force in a jurisdiction it is illegal to rent to a registered sex offender in areas where he may come in contact with children. In addition we also check civil court activity for evictions , bankruptcies, & lawsuits from prior landlords. Surprise ! ,
landlords do not have to accept people with this stuff on their records, & we r not required to find out the details of the incidents. Like Santa says ''Better be good for goodness sakes !''
