Dear Brian J,
the reason is that the Switzerland did not join the Euro. The Swiss Franc is the operating currency in Switzerland and therefore is correctly listed. Likewise with Sterling, the Danish Krone and Norwegian Krone. The UK, Denmark and Norway did not enter the Euro along with many other European countries.

Not all European nations have adopted the Euro. Fifteen EU member states have adopted it, including Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain. The UK still uses the pound and Switzerland still uses the Swiss franc. Actually, Switzerland is not a member of the European Union, but could use it if they decided to.
