l collect rent for my parents and deposit money into the bank for them since l live so close by. All of the Bank of America night deposits are locked and l need a debit card to deposit money after hours through their ATM all of a sudden. Why would they completely do away with their night deposit boxes? What about the Bank of America account holders with no debit cards? My Grandmother was like that, she always just stuck with checks and cash and did not wanna mess with the cards. Or salesmen who deposit money for the business they work for after hours? This is going to be such an inconvenience for us.

The only reason l can think that they would get rid of their night drop is because sometimes deposits go missing or r done incorrectly due to a customer not giving enough, if any, information to how much is there & where it needs to go. By using the ATM they r very precise records as to when u made the deposit & how much u r depositing. If u accidently made a mistake typing in the deposit amount on the ATM, is may be easier for them to fix than in the night drop. Working at a credit union myself, it is much easier to do a transaction face to face in case of a mistake or problem, maybe thats why they r doing this.

Your best bet is to obviously make ur deposits when that branch is open or u could possibly mail it & they would deposit it for u when they receive it in the mail.

~~ l guess they just do not want to service anyone after hours anymore without the debit card. l can certainly see your point, and think you should still have this option.

You can try to speak with the branch Operations Offices, but they are probably just following corporate direction. Second choice would be to look for a bank with friendlier terms. Some of the smaller independent branches still have options available.

Go inside the branch and ask. Night deposit boxes are still a matter of routine. Maybe you saw the part of the box that requires depositors to have a key because they deposit large bags. Usually there is a second hinged door appropriate for deposits in various size envelopes.
